VENEZIA – Elisa Sednaoui è la madrina della Mostra del Cinema di Venezia, che si svolgerà al Lido dal 2 al 12 settembre. L’affascinante modella prestata al cinema, ha madre italiana e padre egiziano. Nata in Italia nel 1987 (Bra), è cresciuta tra Egitto, Italia e Francia. Dopo essersi affermata come modella internazionale, ha debuttato nel cinema nel 2010 nel ruolo femminile principale di Indigène d’Eurasie (Eastern Drift) del regista lituano Sharunas Bartas, presentato al Forum del Festival di Berlino. Ha avuto poi il ruolo femminile principale in Bus Palladium (2010) di Christopher Thompson, film nominato ai César. Ha partecipato quindi a L’amour dure trois ans (2012) diretto da Frédéric Beigbeder, e a La leggenda di Kaspar Hauser (2012) di Davide Manuli, con Vincent Gallo, Fabrizio Gifuni e Claudia Gerini, film presentato al Festival di Rotterdam. Nel 2013 ha partecipato a Les Gamins di Anthony Marciano, nonché a Libertador di Alberto Arvelo con Edgar Ramirez, Maria Valverde e Danny Houston, presentato al Festival di Toronto.
Nel 2014 ha interpretato il ruolo di Francesca in Soap opera di Alessandro Genovesi, film d’apertura del Festival di Roma. Nel luglio 2010 è stata fra i componenti della giuria del Paris Film Festival, nel settembre 2011 della giuria della sezione Revelations al Festival di Deauville e nel dicembre 2014 della giuria Cinecole presieduta da Abderrahmane Sissako al Marrakesh Film Festival. Nel 2015 Sednaoui ha debuttato nella regia col documentario Image of a Woman, ancora inedito, codiretto con Martina Gili e cosceneggiato con lo scrittore e sceneggiatore Nicholas Klein (Buena Vista Social Club, Million Dollar Hotel). Recentemente ha creato la Elisa Sednaoui Foundation (Esf), un progetto concepito per promuovere lo sviluppo personale ed educativo dei giovani nelle aree rurali egiziane, e quindi con minori opportunità, incoraggiando la creatività, la tolleranza e i valori democratici, proponendo attività culturali ed extra scolastiche. La Mostra si svolgerà al Lido dal 2 al 12 settembre 2015, diretta da Alberto Barbera e organizzata dalla Biennale di Venezia presieduta da Paolo Baratta.
